Pedigree

SIR LANCELOT MRF

By Nancy Guthrie Pierce

A long legged, long hooky necked colt with a short dishy head and straight up tail carriage, the 2019 bay colt, SIR LANCELOT MRF, is sired by the champion and champion siring stallion, Conquest BR, and he is out of the Scottsdale Top Ten Mare, SANTA BARBARA JUELL V.  His pedigree contains the close up blood of some of the most highly respected and influential horses in the Arabian horse breed.

A son of the legendary Versace (Fame VF+ x Precious As Gold by *El Shaklan) and out of multi-champion producer, Lea Anna Psy (Padrons Psyche x WA Marlaina Lee by Bey Shah+), the tall bay Conquest BR first caught the attention of Arabian horse enthusiasts as an elegant yearling when Greg Gallun showed him to 2014 Scottsdale Junior Champion Colt honors. Perhaps most notably, the yearling Conquest BR was the one horse standing between Baahir El Marwan and a unanimous Scottsdale Supreme Championship that year.  Five judges had the Marwan Al Shaqab son Baahir El Marwan first in the Supreme Championship.  Judge John Ryan placed the yearling Conquest BR first on his card. That success was validated by Conquest BR’s Yearling Sweepstakes victory at 2014 U.S. Nationals later that year. Conquest BR returned to U.S. Nationals in 2016 to earn the title of National Champion Junior Stallion.

Aside from his success in the show ring, Conquest BR now seems to be fulfilling the promise of his extremely strong pedigree by producing champions of his own – not an unexpected turn of events to those familiar with both his sire and dam lines.  Versace, Fame VF, Padrons Psyche, *El Shaklan, Padron, and Bey Shah+ (twice) appear In the first three generations of his pedigree.  His paternal siblings include both halter and performance champions, even some national and world champions among them.  Some of the most notable include Amurath Czhivago++/, Brandon Bey JCA+, DA Valentino, Da Vinci FM, Georgio AF, KM Bugatti++, Ladi Veronika, Luchiaano+//, MM Verdict+++/, Odyssey SC, Suzanna MPA, Venetzia, and Veronica GA – the list of Conquest BR’s successful show horse and champion-producing siblings is a very long one.

Conquest BR’s sire line is, indeed, a great one, but his dam’s family is equally notable.  Lee Anna Psy’s sire was the legendary Padrons Psyche, and her dam was a champion daughter of the renowned Bey Shah+.  Some of Lee Anna Psy’s notable siblings include multi-National Champion Mare, JJ La Estrella (3/4 sibling); Canadian National Ch AAOTR / multi-national winner in halter and performance, Biyast+++/ ; and Margarita Psy, dam of National Champion / multi-national winner, Beloved One NA+.  Lee Anna Psy’s most successful offspring aside from Conquest BR is regional champion and national reserve champion western pleasure horse, Verttigo.

The oldest of the Conquest BR foals arrived in 2016.  His champions to date include the full siblings Aria Tresor, Gloriana MJMD, and Aria Midas, all out of multi-champion RH Triana; Conn MA (x AW Fortune Ngold+); and Loves Conquest (x GCWhispering Echo).

SIR LANCELOT MRF is the second foal bred by Moss Rose Farm, LLC, out of the Varian-bred mare, SANTA BARBARA JUELL V, who traces three times to the national champion Ruminaja Ali son, *Ali Jamaal. SANTA BARBARA JUELL V is the result of breeding the *Ali Jamaal son, Jullyen El Jamaal, to the *Ali Jamaal daughter, Sweet Shalimar V, with the third line to *Ali Jamaal coming through Jullyen El Jamaal’s maternal grandsire, Ludjin El Jamaal.

A 15.3 HH, elegant, long necked mare with large eyes and a dry, chiseled face, SANTA BARBARA JUELL V has the distinction of being the last daughter of one of the most successful mares in the astronomically successful Varian program – the beautiful bay Ali Jamaal daughter Sweet Shalimar V ( x SweetinspirationV by Huckleberry Bey V++); thus, direct descendant in tail female to some of the aristocrats of Arabian horse history – Sweetinspirationv, Spinning Song, Moska, Baychatka++, and finally, one of the three mares famed English breeder Patricia Lindsay purchased for Sheila Varian in Poland, the little powerhouse mare, *Bachantka (Wielki Szlem x Balalajka by Amurath-Sahib).

SANTA BARBARA JUELL V is maternal sister to the sensational performance sire, Sundance Kid V and his full sisters, national champion producers Sweet Silk V and Sweet Saphire V (all by Desperado V); multi-national top ten producer Sweet Caroline V (by Besson Carol; multi-national champion producer Sweet Klassique V (by *Fairview Klassique); and SANTA BARBARA JUELL V’s full sibling (by Jullyen El Jamaal) U.S. National Top Ten Western Pleasure Futurity Mare CA Vista.

SANTA BARBARA JUELL V’s first foal bred by Moss Rose Farm, LLC, is the tall Scottsdale Egyptian Heritage Junior Champion Filly, Sierra Juell MRF by the straight Egyptian stallion, Baha AA.  Though only time will tell, SIR LANCELOT MRF appears to be quite similar to his beautiful older sister in size and structure, as could be expected from siblings whose dam is 15.3 hands tall.  Overall, the cross of Conquest BR on the Varian-bred SANTA BARBARA JUELL V seems to have been a very good one, and to date, SIR LANCELOT MRF is the only Conquest BR offspring out of a Varian-bred mare.

This blending of successful Arabian horse families, coupled with the promise of his physical attributes as a foal, suggests SIR LANCELOT MRF should add his name to the list of well-known and productive offspring resulting from his sire’s and dam’s highly-respected families if given the opportunity.
